Where To Start?

Start out doing a Backside 50-50. Once you're balanced in your 50-50, shuffle into a Backside Lipslide position. Remember, it's the same position as if you were doing a Frontside Boardslide.

Back Lip ShuffleNotice how you lock in the Backside 50-50 before shuffling into the back Lip. Breaking it down into these 2 parts works super well.

Progress It!

When you want to jump straight into the Back Lip on a rail, Ollie in as if you're doing a Backside 50-50, but just before you land the 50-50, shuffle in the air. The best way to get into the Back Lip position in the air is to use a Backside Shifty technique.

Fixing Those Errors

For your first Back Lip, it is very common to slip off the opposite side from where you approached. This is because you're momentum is going across the feature.

Sliding Off The Back Lip

The way to fix this is to catch that momentum with your front foot, and angle your board against the rail. Don't worry, this will come with practice and experience.

Downhill Action

Street style features are almost always downhill, so make sure you are leaning downhill at the same angle as the feature to keep that base perfectly flat.

Match The FeatureThis is how you keep your base perfectly flat with the rail.

Now that you know how to stomp a Back Lip plus some common errors and how to fix them, go and give it a go! This is one of the sickest jib tricks you can do, so definitely aim to add it to your bag of tricks and if you need a refresher on our other Lipslide tutorials, check them out now:
