Jib Along Boardslide Focused snowboard workout

Ultimate Snowboard Workout EP 2: Boardslide Focused

Episode 2 of the Ultimate Snowboard Workout is all about boardslides. Nev Lapwood takes you through four slide variations in ten minutes: backside boardslides, frontside lipslides, frontside boardslides and backside lipslides, all built on the same counter rotation skills.

Your setup: a Jib Board and a Balance Bar. For an extra balance challenge, add the WTP Rail Extension on top of the bar for a rounded, narrower surface.

Twist one way: backside boardslide and frontside lipslide

Push the bar aside, jump and twist the board 90 degrees, then jump and twist it back to forwards, with your upper and lower body twisting against each other. Next, jump up into a 50-50 on the bar and twist in and out there. Then add lateral movement:

  • Backside boardslide: rail behind you, jump across into the slide, land centered between both feet and twist back out forwards.
  • Frontside lipslide: rail in front of you, same twist, same centered landing, same exit.

Twist the other way: frontside boardslide and backside lipslide

Now reverse the twist. Start with your hands slightly toward your tail so your upper body opens up to look downhill as the board turns.

  • Frontside boardslide: rail in front, your front foot comes over the rail and you see where you are going the whole way.
  • Backside lipslide: rail behind you, your back foot comes up and over the rail with the same twist as the frontside boardslide. Having the rail behind you takes a little more commitment, so jump in confidently and land centered between both feet.

Why the twist matters

The twist lets you slide a feature sideways and still ride away forwards. Twist in, twist out, every time.

Run all four on the WTP Rail Extension

Add the WTP Rail Extension and cycle through all four tricks. The smaller surface makes your legs work harder and turns every rep into sharper, snow-ready balance. Aim for two to four second holds.

Take it to the snow

You finish with four boardslide variations dialed in from both approaches, ready to try on your first boxes and rails of the season.
