Jib Along 180s Out snowboard workout

Ultimate Snowboard Workout EP 6: 180s Out

Episode 6 of the Ultimate Snowboard Workout wraps the series with 180s out of 50-50s. Nev Lapwood shows you how counter rotation powers every 180 off a box or rail, then drills frontside and backside exits until they feel automatic.

Your setup: a Jib Board and a Balance Bar. For an extra balance challenge, add the WTP Rail Extension on top of the bar for a rounded, narrower surface.

Feel rotation, then counter rotation

Jump frontside 180s and switch frontside 180s with rotation, upper and lower body turning together. Then put your arms out in front of you like you are grabbing onto something and spin the 180 from your core. That counter rotation drives every 180 out of a box or rail, and it lets you spin off cleanly while your board stays flat on the feature.

Frontside 180s out

  • Jump onto the bar in a 50-50 and open your upper body, hands over the nose.
  • Counter rotate out to switch, then run it again from switch.
  • Build control: jump the 180 and land back on the bar, then slide the 180 with a light unweight so the board stays on the bar.
  • Timing: open up as you ride the feature and release the 180 at the end, once you reach full wind up.
  • Run it from frontside and backside 50-50s.

Backside 180s out

Keep your eyes forward and take your hands toward your tail, then counter rotate the backside 180. Drill it on the bar: jump it and land back on, then slide it. Then run it as a full trick from a 50-50, with your shoulders, chest and waist twisted toward your tail at the end of the rail while your eyes stay forward.

Final rounds on the WTP Rail Extension

Move to the WTP Rail Extension for frontside 50-50 to front 180, backside 50-50 to front 180, frontside 50-50 to back 180 and backside 50-50 to back 180, regular and switch.

Take it to the snow

You leave with core-driven counter rotation and clean timing for 180s out in both directions, a strong base for spinning off any box or rail you ride this season.
