How To Japan On A Tramp Board

How To Japan On A Tramp Board

A Japan is essentially a Mute grab that you tweak behind your back!

A good tweaked out Japan is super entertaining to watch and even more amusing to stomp. Adding Japan grabs to your tricks is a sure fire way to get props from your friends.

Check out our Snowboard Tutorial Membership for even more ways to get props.

(Narrating/Rider: Duncan Mainland. Riding: Nev Lapwood. Film/Edit: Vince Emond. Filmed At: Whistler Bounce & Whistler Blackcomb)

Three Tickets to Tokyo

1. Grab Mute and add a Frontside Shifty.

Grab Mute and kick it out Frontside, throwing your other arm back to really shift that Shifty.

2. Grab Mute with your arm on the outside of your knee, then add a Frontside Shifty.

Outside the knee but inside the bindings.

    3. Grab Mute, outside the knee, bend your knees and arch your back.

Notice how Duncan's vertebrae spiral out of alignment... perfect.

If you throw your back out in the process you know you've tweaked a good Japan. Seriously though... this trick might take a few yoga classes and the odd Robaxacet.

Japan is a little more advanced so, you should have experience with most of the basic grabs before you book your flight.
