Government of BC Website

"An internship is on-the-job training offered by an employer to provide a person with practical experience. Often internships are offered to persons who have completed a diploma or degree program and are seeking employment. Completing an internship does not itself result in an academic certificate or diploma. If the duties performed by interns fall within the definition of “work” contained in the Act, the intern falls within the definition of “employee”, and the agency using the services of an intern falls within the definition of “employer”, internships will be considered “work” for the purposes of the Act."

Canadian Internship Association:

"British Columbia: Unpaid internships are illegal unless the internship falls under one of the two narrow exceptions listed in BC’s Employment Standards Act: 1. Internships that provide “hands-on” training as part of a formal educational program (called a “practicum” in the Act);

  1. Internships that provide training for certain professions (e.g. architecture, law, chiropractor, engineering, real estate);

- 30 hours per week to meet your university requirements
- 6 months from November - April
- Finances: You must have enough finances saved to complete the 6-month internship without requiring other work. You are welcome to have another job, but with 30 hours a week already tied up with Snowboard Addiction and snowboarding every day, it will be difficult to work outside of these commitments.
- You must have a valid working visa or already be in Canada on a Tourist Visa. We do not assist with Visa applications.

How Do I Apply?

Step 1: Please read the above information carefully and speak with your institution to ensure we are a good fit.
