How To 180 Nose Roll

How To 180 Nose Roll

Nose Rolls are another buttering trick where you don't actually balance in a pressed position. While they may look difficult, they are a surprisingly easy progression from Frontside and Backside 180s which is why, they should be next up on your trick list.

This tutorial will teach you how to 180 Nose Roll so you can add them to your bag of buttery tricks. These are the progressions that go with this tutorial:

Frontside 180

While riding, pop a Frontside 180 to land switch. Then when comfortable, jump a Switch Frontside 180 to land back in your regular stance. It's important you've got these tricks on lock, because this is all where the Nose Roll starts.

Your First Nose Rolls

Now try the exact same movements of a Frontside 180 and Switch Frontside 180, but instead of jumping it, try rolling the nose of your board using the High Press position.

How To 180 Nose RollIt's almost the same motion as jumping the 180s, but your board never fully leaves the ground.

Backside 180

After you've become comfortable doing Frontside and Switch Frontside Nose Rolls, you can start learning them in the Backside direction. Start by jumping a Back 1 to land switch, then jump a Switch Backside 1 to land back in your regular stance.

Backside Nose Rolls

If you're feeling comfortable jumping the 180s, use the same amount of rotation and effort but allow your board to roll over nose while keeping it in contact with the snow.

How To 180 Nose RollBackside Nose Roll = rotate Backside.

These are a little trickier than the Frontside direction because you can't always see where you're going.

Trick Tip: Make sure to use the blind landing technique on your Backside Nose Rolls. It will allow you to ride away smoothly without over rotating.

There are all our tips to getting some solid Nose Rolls, and not the one's you pick from your actual nose. That's gross. Remember, get your 180s feeling good then just keep the nose of your board in light contact with the snow to perform this uber stylish buttering trick!
